This FAQ will be updated regularly.
1. What are "The Legionnaires"?
The Legionnaires are a covert group of neighborhood pets and (small) wildlife whose aim is to reach and save as many animals and people that they can. Their leader, Hadrian, was once a pit fighter and knows that even the most hardened scrapper can have a change of heart.
2. So, are all the characters dogs?
Nope. There are dogs, cats, birds, just about anything you'd find in a suburban neighborhood. There's also a large forest outside of town that hosts some larger natural species though they have little to do with the more developed areas.
3. Is every character a Legionnaire?
No. The Legionnaire's are the protagonists, the good guys. There are neutral and "bad" elements as well, and they each have their own boards to roleplay on and can skirmish with other groups.
4. I want to create a new street with new Legionnaires, can I?
For now, no. If and when the forum grows, there may be room to create more gangs and Legionnaire groups, so it's always a possibility.
5. What are "Stats"?
Stats are the fight outcomes listed by the gang members and scrappers. They let others know how good (or bad) a particular animal is in the pit.
6. I have a character that started out in the Old Market Gang, can he/she ever become a Legionnaire?
Yes! The Legionnaire's don't believe that anyone is beyond their reach. However, know that other Gang members will be angry if one of their own tries to leave their ranks, so be prepared for a fight.
7. Why do you "forfeit rights-to-life" in the Greenriver Docks and other fighting matches?
Because this is a semi-realistic RP. Dogs die in fights and they can be seriously injured. The Forfeit exists to keep people from constantly putting their characters into fights and not allowing them to be hurt or yanking them out before they're killed. Most importantly, it prevents anyone from complaining when their character is killed.
8. What do I do if my character is hurt or nearly killed in a fight?
You can take them to the Second Chance Shelter to be patched up. There is a minimum of 10 posts, 3 paragraphs per post (for both animal and human caretaker) required before your character is "healed." Your character can then "escape" the shelter or remain there and go through obedience training (another 10 posts, 3 paragraph minimum with a trainer) and then be adopted out. Once in the neighborhood, your character has the option of becoming a Legionnaire.
9. What does "altered" and "unaltered" mean?
Since many of the animals being played are or once were pets, most have been spayed and neutered to prevent them from breeding. Only a few of the Legionnaire's remain unaltered, and usually only those who come from purebred, champion bloodlines. Realistically, it's usually these kinds of dogs who are left with the ability to breed because their lines are important enough to keep alive. 'Altered' means the animal has been spayed or neutered, 'unaltered' means that they have not.
10. What kinds of abilities are allowed here?
The animals are all semi-anthropomorphic in that they have human-like emotions, can talk to one another, and are sentient (intelligent). However, they can't fly, come back from the dead, use telekinesis, read, write, shoot fireballs out of their mouths, etc. When you create your character profile, keep this in mind, but the staff is always ready to let you know if you've crossed the line.
11. What kinds of colors are allowed here?
Unlike many other animal-based RP forums, there are no outlandish or "unnatural" colors allowed for pets here. A scarlet macaw will obviously be brightly colored, but those colors are not found on, say, a tabby cat.
12. Then how can I make my character unique?
There are tons of color variations and patterns that you can play with to make your character distinctive and original. If you're having a really hard time, you can ask one of our artists to help.
13. How big can my signature be?
No taller than 3".
14. Is swearing allowed?
Yes, however the staff asks that you put a "WARNING! MATURE CONTENT!" notice at the top of your post or, preferably, in the title.
15. Is there a place to play a human?
Yes. Humans exist in the Limestone Street neighborhood, the Second Chance Shelter, and the Old Market Gang, however they are usually there as supporting characters. This story is, after all, about the animals.
