Okay, I'm in the process of designing Shay, the Unfortunates' resident badass (shesreallykindofnicebutshhh). I've been toying with the idea of making her some kind of hybrid (thus adding to her badassery).
The basic concept is that she's been one of the few individuals able to break free of the Gang (years ago) and now protects those seeking "sanctuary" in the scrapyard. Even Tyrant, Junior and Val tread lightly where Shay is concerned. I'd originally envisioned her as a wolf/dog hybrid, making her a valid opponent to the three toughest dogs of Old Market. She'd also be struggling with figuring out where she belongs: with wolves (who seem to have a far more peaceful life than dogs) or with the strays and former fighters she's started protecting. If she goes to Hangman's Wood to live with the other wolves (as her father would prefer), she'd be abandoning the dogs who risked leaving the Gang because they knew at least someone was out there who could keep them safe.
But the same could work for a coydog or just a straight breed of one of the three.
So... help?

Dog & Coyote.
That would make her scrawmy, large paws, large ears, and really scruffy-- sounds like something good for her personality.

I had to foster a coy-dog once. She hid under my sink and made yowly noises at me.
Depending...maybe dingo? I always was partial to very ancient feral dog breeds.

Yeah, but how would a dingo get to the Pacific Northwest of the US? o___O
And she can't really be scrawny. Tyrant and Co. are wary of her, so she's gonna have some bulk. She's basically as tough as Val but with, uh, morals.

Yeah, but how would a dingo get to the Pacific Northwest of the US? o___O They're illegally domesticated and imported just as much as people wrongfully keep tigers, and lions and other wild animals as semi-domesticated companion animals.

Funny little tidbit of info for deciding on her -dog- portion: Huskies are actually the only dog to be repetitively successfull in taking down pits in the ring, they fight dirty and usually to the death. As for my opinion on the other half, dingos are actually fairly docile, despite the "Dingos ate my baby!" rumor, and Coydogs from my experience are timid. Mind you both could really snap in the ring, but its wolf hybrids that tend to foster the agressive streak they look for to exploit in the ring. I've done FAR too much research on this topic over the years, and worked with rescue pits that used to fight, so I've retained a few things here and there, lol. Just giving a reason behind my wolf vote.

So far I'm thinking Canaan dog x Wolf, but the vote is swinging toward coyote...

Coyote cross, defiantly. I’m getting a little tired of all the wolf comics, and this one was my savior from that. Besides, your more likely to find a coyote lurking around a city to breed with a stray than a wolf.

Ceridelll is right xD Wolf comics are everywhere, A dingo would be nice, But Dingo(user) my uncle had a corgi, and by experiene I know those dogs are kindhearted and almost never attack, but my uncle treated her so badly that one day she got home with a squirrel, and whenever he takes her out to walk, she tries to attack other dogs, it depends of how you treat them. so I guess it would be coyoteXdog would be nice or Dingo
