Name: Grant
Codename: Shield
Affiliation: The Limestone Street Legionnaires
Rank: Liason, Lead Centurion
Sex: Male, altered.
Breed: German Shepherd.
Age: 5
Personality: Shield is very quiet and introspective. He is stern, brave, and stoic, keeping much of what goes on inside his head to himself.
Because of his private nature, the other Legionnaires know very little about his past or what motivates him to help them beside just wanting to do the right thing.
Years ago, when Shield was still in training his mentor, Sherman, was killed by another dog while on duty. The stress and tragedy of the situation caused Shield to gray prematurely, making him look older than he is. After Shield could not unearth the reason for the attack, nor find the canine responsible, he became disheartened and cynical. This lead to the birth of a dual-nature--While Shield wants to do what is Just, he is also pushed by the desire for revenge.
There are times when Shield goes MIA and is unavailable to the other Legionnaires. During these times, he is nursing his old vendetta and sets out to track down the dog or dogs responsible for killing his friend and teacher.
Otherwise, Shield fills two roles for the Legionnaires. He is both a Liason from the Police Station and the Lead Centurion. As a Liason, he ferries information from his human co-workers to the Fort. As the Lead Centurion, Shield is responsible for training an elite unit to expressly defend the neighborhood from the Gang and to accompany other members on particularly dangerous tasks as guardians.
Important Relationships:
Echo: Shield relates to Echo as a fellow working-dog and confides in her more than any other Legionnaire. His feelings towards her (romantically) are mixed--He knows she is seeing a scrapyard dog and so tries to keep himself in check, but he cannot deny the spark that he feels between them.
"Doc": Shield is quietly amused by the proper little dog and plays along with the medic's antics. He has graciously accepted Doc's knighting of him, answering when the Chinese Crested calls him "Sir Shield."
Hadrian: Shield regards Hadrian as a fellow warrior and disciplined soldier. He understands that Hadrian, like himself, has a past he'd rather forget or correct.
Played By: Scrii
This was a very difficult pool to judge from as all of those who sent in try-outs really "got" the character and his motivations. However, I do have to choose someone, and though it was a hard choice to make, I think Scrii took the character to the next level and added her own life to his base-personality and history.
Congratulations Scrii and a job well done to everyone who applied!
